it was so called micro blogging, a new thing, just when blogging was popular, till google and deep us killed blogs in 2013.
(because full blogging breaks censorship. in real blogging, you chose what to read. in social network, they chose what you read. )
but in the beginning of twitter, it was also the silicon valley marketing era.
i am on twitter mostly just to spread my programing tutorials and essays. since elon musk bought it, i also use twitter to get real pol news (if you know who to read).
but pretty soon after a few years, twitter degenerated to click baits, drama, shitposts, then deep us fakenews, with the rise of sjw in 2016, then cancel culture, then heavy censorship, then covid...
there's no actual discussion you can do, because you get flooded by a hundred wisecracks, sound-bite posters, they wanted to win the thumb ups awards (a psychological trick invented by facebook).
These are the beginning of twitter, done by mostly good natured tech nerds.
Later on, it became darker, done by bots and paid agents of gov or big org.
and everything you post, became dead in a day. so, the same thought are repeated every month, by everyone.
the zoomers, are worse, cuz they grew up in this situation, they havnt seen the old internet or society.
elon musk bought twitter for the explicit purpose of removing deep us censorship. It is reasonably successful.
But the way of microblogging problem remain, especially the algo control of info, now ai control, and, the open source rooted mentality of refusing to pay for site service.
