“I Wait For You” (痴痴的等) is a masochistic love song. The original singer is Lin Dai (1934 to 1964, 林黛), a Chinese actress superstar. “I Wait For You” was released in 1964. It's the soundtrack to 《藍與黑》 (The Blue And The Black, 1966), a melodrama about unrequited love.

Unsure if this is morning
Unsure if this is night
I see no clouds
I see no lights

It is dark
It is grim
You had me waiting here

On my mind is your love
On my mind is your kiss
Endless tears of memory
Unbearable thoughts of separation

How dreamy
How dizzy
You had me waiting here

At times I heard footsteps
And it stirred me up
At times I called out your name
To see you running toward me

When I see the passing shadow
I realized it's a stranger
Will you be coming?
Must I keep waiting?
These thoughts I locked myself
These thoughts I tortured myself

The deeper the love
The deeper the hate
I'm still here
Waiting for you

Music: 王福龄. Lyrics: 陶秦. Translation: 李杀 (Xah Lee).

The song has been sung by many modern songstresses, including 梅艳芳 (Anita Mui, 1963 to 2003).
