learned a deep insight from American skin-color drama on twitter: The fish tail of mermaid, symbolizes frigidity!

So that is why, she wanna have legs. Also why, almost all mermaid depictions, draw the tail not as fish tail, but as legs bound by a wrapper.

I always wondered about that, and critized such artwork as “unrealistic”, that a better drawing of mermaid bottom should be like a fish, no artifical bent at “knee”.

though dunno where this idea of frigidity is from or is sound. I think that's a modern interpretation.
