2010-07-19 THE CHAOS DECRETUM RULESET OVERVIEW I. Rules II. Conduct III. Objective IV. Negotiations/Mediation V. Revisions/Additions/Clarifications FOREWORD Summation: We do not want to ban you, we want to kill you and be killed and inspire other militaries to enjoy it as we do. We have not forgotten the purpose of a military here; we're here for combat and fun. Welcome to the home of the Chaos Decretum. This rules outlined in this notecard are not definite, but flexible. We realize banning and being banned does not make for an enjoyable fight, and both of us are here for an enjoyable fight; we created these rules with that first in mind. In the heat of battle, it is difficult to address complaints; that is true of both sides. If the situation is bearable to any degree, it is our goal not to interrupt combat with the trivialties of rules. If the issue is unbearable and must be solved, please HALT COMBAT until it is resolved. Do not expect us to answer you while under assault. If someone is caught breaking our few rules, we may consider banning the offender after the duration of the battle. However flexible our rules are, they do break at some point. After attempts to compromise and negotiate fail, and intentional offenses or outright disrespect for our rules continues, we have no choice but to take action. This ruleset may change frequently, so always come by to pick one up and see what's changed before rushing over. I. RULES a. ? The STABLE treaty is an unnecessary read to fight the Chaos Decretum. Needless to say, we do not violate it, and if someone does please report it, and will normally not permit:􀀀 Jump Packs Are no longer allowed in Meliae. Avatar flight. Attachment planes and vehicles are now allowed as long as they have a sit base. Space-barring extensively. It's alright to break your falls with it. Using movement enhancers, except for dodge-rolls or the sort and jetpacks. Horizontal jetpacks are okay as well. Attaching more than one weapon unless dual scripted. Warping through a means other than teleport from a person, like sit warping. Unreasonable sensors above a 10M radius/20M diameter. Seekers, tracking bullets, tracking missiles, etc. Unreasonable vehicles with too many hitpoints or faulty hitpoint counters. You know what is fair and what isn't fair. We know what is fair and what isn't fair. Even so, what appears isn't fair doesn't always need to be banned depending on its usage or degree of abuse. At Chaos, we try to match force with force if at all possible, and avoid conflict over minor infractions such as equipment differences, because it adds depth to the fight. b. BANNED EQUIPMENT: Currently none. Please follow the above guidelines at least loosely so we don't have to restrict equipment. II. Conduct Sim flooding, we understand that our sim isn't a full one. Just keep in mind we don't want to flood our sim, and neither do you, because it will disable inter-region teleports and make combat a long hell. In the event we outnumber you and it's our fault for sim flooding, some will be asked to leave on our side. As will we ask you if you outnumber us. Mass teleporting, we all know it, we've all done it, in some way or another. You are perfectly permitted to mass teleport, in fact, in our own assaults we do recognize that this is the only way you can truly push forward in combat within Second Life. We are not about to restrict that. However, there comes a point where the medic has died and teleports of his are still being taken. This is often NOT an intentional act, and you will not be punished unless it is extremely severe. Please, do not be concerned about such issues and simply fight. We understand. Spawn killing, it's a basic form of victory in SL combat, but nonetheless despised in every game. While at some time it may have been acceptable, it is not permissable in the presence of any semblance of a provided victory objective. We know in order to capture an objective you may have to suppress the spawn, but please do so without "black-screening;" it will not make the fight any more enjoyable to render us completely incapable of defense. We will also try not to engage you in your spawn. Rushing and pushing also needs to be addressed. War is a struggle between two powers for control and dominance. Just as you are pushing up at us, we may push up at you in counter. We will try not to pressure the spawn too much, because you are limited in your ways of approach. Our personal suggestion is to set up a medic in some secure forward position just in front of the spawn, although be warned, we will not hesitate to send one or two soldiers to break your position wherever you hold up. Air power is more of an issue than vehicles. Tanks, APCs, and other of the sort are grounded and relatively easy to combat and deal with, while planes are extremely elusive and, sorry to say, generally overpowered. Because of the nature of air combat planes have to turn themselves into an unbelievable killing machine relative to a normal soldier. The firepower of planes is just outstanding. So please, if you're going to engage ground forces with a plane, be merciful and only bomb. We will oblige you the same. Tanks, or any other form of vehicle using an armor script is now allowed in Meliae. We do not have such things in stock right now, so we expect to fight on the same grounds. III. Objective Our base's objective is simple. There are three control points you must capture in our base in order. The first is right in front of the gate by the spawn. Once you capture it, the second point, underneath the road that goes through the Northern gate (on our side). Once you capture that, the third point is unlocked, located in the very NE corner of our base. IV. Negotiations/Mediation As said in the foreword, all of the above are negotiable and permissable to some degree until it comes to the point where you are honestly trying to make trouble. Bans, especially, are subject to extreme flexibility unless you make it clear you're just going to break every rule again. V. Additions/Revisions/Explanations Contact the writer of this notecard, Sherdan Kinomis, for clarifications, elaborations, questions, or anything he's missed out on. Like mentioned in the foreword, this may be updated very often. AFTERWORD Success is measured in blood; yours, or your enemies.
