Mathematical Screen Savers

Many screensavers has a mathematical beauty. They include physics simulations, artificial life, cellular automata, computer graphics technology demo, mathematics based art (fractals, spiralgraph curves), puzzles...

xscreensaver by Jamie Zawinski is a screesaver for unix's X-Windows. It contains many mathematical programs, including: cellular automata, artificial life, rubic cubes and other puzzles, polyminoes, penrose tiles, knots, physics simulations or math explorations, fractals or iteration systems of all sorts, computer graphics technology demos (ususally abstract).

Fracture is a beautiful fractal-generating screensaver for Mac OS X. Author is Ben Haller. http://www.sticksoftware.com/gallery.html. (2003-09)OSX

Ben is also the author of the famous AfterDark screensaver module Satori, Rose, Lunatic Fringe. (Satori is the mesmeric color changing pattern. Rose is the dotted pattern of the math curve rose).

After Dark↗ went away when the screensaver's era (1993-1997) went away because of energy-saving monitors that auto-off automatically.

A web version (JavaScript and Java) of Satory can bee seen here. http://www.grokware.com/ Author is Utopia Grokware. (Todd Rundgren, David Levine, Michele Rundgren) Java
